ANNAI THERASA SOCIAL WELFARE EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE TRUST is founded to create an empowered and equitable society that systemically address livelihood and education. This non profit organization floated by a team of dedicated and wholly committed personal specializing in the area of vital social contribution. The trust aims to provide programs to educate poor and rise funds to support their education. So far many children's residing in and around Chidambaram are benefited through us. We are working to create an empowered and equitable society that systemically address livelihood and education. We address livelihood issues of the working poor through organising the informal sector workforce into worker-owned enterprises and providing supportive marketing and business structures to ensure success of the collectives.

Main Objectives :

• Promoting the social model of intervention in partnership with people who use services and carers

• Working with other professionals and support workers

• Intervening to protect vulnerable people when appropriate

• Promoting human growth and developing individual capability

• Building awareness of structural oppression, power, service user rights and responsibilities, and social inclusion.

• To promote and protect the welfare of Indian people by founding institutions of Education in Tamil Nadu and in India, in the sphere of Health science, Medical Sciences, Engineering Technology, Pharmacy, Management Studies, Agriculture, Arts, Science, Applied Science, Commerce, Teacher Education, Physical Education, Legal Education, Photography and all other and all other left out fields and general Education and education of all types and disiplines right from Nursing up to the highest level.

• To train and coach students for various examinations and contests.

• To Serve the younger generations of this country by means of education in general or industrial, technical vocational professional, management, medicine either by way of residential course or correspondence course.

Why Educate ?

• Educated mothers are 50% more likely to immunize their children than mothers with no schooling (Net Aid). It is a well known fact that the acquisition of literacy and numeracy, especially by women, has an impact upon fertility.

• Failure to educate girls and women perpetuates needless hunger. Why Women Empowerment ?

• Achievements and Role of Department of Women and Child DevelopmentThe provisions of the Constitution of India granting equality to women in various spheres creates the legal framework within which the Department of Women & Child Development functions for women's development. Women as a mother hood of the nation should be strong, aware and alert; that is main motto of the Department and mother with child is the future of the nation. formulating strategies and initiating processes to bring women into the mainstream. Women constitute half of the country's population (accounting for 407.1 million in absolute numbers as per the 1991 census), and it is abundantly clear that there can be no development unless their needs and interests are fully taken into account. to protect and safeguard the rights of women.to give the much needed impetus to the holistic development of women and children. For advancement of women and children.

• All these efforts are directed to ensure that women are empowered both economically and socially and thus become equal partners in national development along with men.The major policy initiatives undertaken by the Department in the recent past include the establishment of the National Commission.

Helping Physically Challenged :

• Rehabilitation of people who are physically challenged is another priority of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (External website that opens in a new window). Special care is provided to them through District Disability Rehabilitation Centres (External website that opens in a new window), institutes and NGO's. People with physical disabilities include the visually impaired, hearing impaired and amputees. Disabled people need different types of rehabilitation depending on the extent of their injury. Patients are evaluated by a team of specialists and are counselled along with their families. Rehabilitation involves processes to help patients live a decent standard of life with their handicap.

• Rehabilitation for the blind involves learning the sighted guide technique, the use of the white cane, reading and writing the Braille language and performing household chores without sight. They are taught vocational skills in fields where blindness is not a handicap like candle making and other crafts. Some may be provided visual aids.

• People who have lost a limb due to a disease or accident receive reconstructive surgery. Later on they may be provided with an artificial leg like a Jaipur foot, a calliper or crutches. They are then taught how to walk with new aid they receive and are given vocational training to help them get a job.

• Deaf and Mute people may be recommended surgery or fitted with a hearing aid or ear mould depending on their unique condition. Those who haven't learnt to speak as yet (children below five) are given speech therapy that includes learning the sign language, lip reading and other pointers.

• Depending on their situation, a few disabled people may also be prescribed medications and surgery of different types. The rehabilitation process in all cases involves follow up treatment where the patient is rechecked at periodic intervals.
